ABOUT
The Wax Worms are a "worm-next-door" psychedelic indie DIY band hailing from sunny Miami, Florida. Formed in 2017, the band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist, Max Harrison, guitarist Ryan Garcia, bassist Max Trullenque, drummer Caleb Carr, and keyboardist / producer Alejandro Quevedo.
The band's music is an eclectic blend of psychedelic rock, blog-era indie rock, and warm 70’s AM easy-listening, drawing inspiration from acts such as Todd Rundgren, The Flaming Lips, and The Velvet Underground, as well as acts from the Global South and East like Telegraph Avenue, Los Zafiros, and Shintaro Sakamoto. Their sound is characterized by dreamy, swirling guitars, driving basslines, and pulsating rhythms, all anchored by Harrison’s crooning vocals and introspective, surreal lyrics.
"Inspired by the likes of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Sixties pop songwriting, the Wax Worms bring a mixture of laidback, dreamy melodies the band calls 'rock 'n' stroll.' Believing that the age of the ultracool rockstar is over, the band focuses on relatable if somewhat mundane topics like love, car troubles, and dogs." - Miami New Times
In addition to their music, The Wax Worms are known for their dynamic live performances. They bring classic rock energy, post-punk absurdity, and a down-to-earth “goofballism” to the stage that keeps listeners connected. They've played at numerous venues across Miami, including staples in the scene like Gramps, Churchill’s Pub, Las Rosas, The Anderson, and Space Park. Their shows are an intimate, exuberant, passionate, and hilarious experience that genuinely enthralls concertgoers.
Since their inception, The Wax Worms have self-released one demo-EP, "So Lovely She’s Zadie" in 2020, as well as three singles, “No Sugar”, “Lone With You”, and “Laura” in the subsequent years. Their music has been praised for its unique, catchy melodies and DIY approach, and the band has gained a loyal following both in their hometown of Miami and beyond.
Known for their DIY ethos, The Wax Worms deliver a hands-on approach to every aspect of their music, from writing and recording to designing and producing their own merchandise. They're passionate about staying true to their artistic vision and connecting with their fans on a personal level.
As they continue to grow and evolve as a band, The Wax Worms remain committed to their DIY ethos and their passion for creating music that is both innovative and accessible. Currently, they are prepping a catalog of singles and music videos set to release starting this August.
Listener side-effects may include (but are not limited to): pleasant air flow from the ear canal to the brain and feet, positive visual over-stimulation, positive audio over-stimulation, questions, mild confusion, and/or extreme euphoria (some listeners may also experience mild introspection dependent on mental state). Call your doctor if you experience feelings of disgust, unreasonable frustration, and/or general negativity directed towards worms and worm music (of any variety), as these may be signs of potentially fatal poor taste.
